As they say locally,
‘New Year, New Fashion’.
It is very common at this time of the year to have self evaluations of the previous year and to come up with new year resolutions to have a better version of one’s self.
For you who is not involved in drug abuse practices, good start already, keep staying drug free.
For most others, just saying No To Drug Abuse isn’t enough. You have to be intentional. Here is a resolution you can adopt and a few tips on how to get through the 12 months of this year drug free
I will stay sober this year
I will do so by…
Always keeping the bigger picture ahead
Go beyond the excitement of writing new year resolutions. What is the drive beyond the resolutions? Why write them? Some sample bigger pictures to keep visualizing so you stay on track of the drug free journey could be to be healthier, save money, better relationships with family and friends, better career performance and so on
I will get rid of all the triggers
What are the things that trigger your cravings for drugs? Think of those things and avoid them. You can learn how to manage your cravings by getting rid of the drugs, avoiding the friends and places that pressure you and by finding new hobbies.
I will get the support I need
This year, do not be ashamed to ask for help and surround your self with people who support your decision to stay sober. Engage in new, healthier relationships, mend those broken by drug use.
I will celebrate my progress daily
Track your progress. Bearing in mind you may not have wins everyday (rise up each time you fall and continue forward), the days you do you win by staying sober, celebrate!
Feel free to add more new year resolutions.
Happy Drug free year 2019
